Piloting Justice: A Panel Discussion on Delhi High Court’s ‘Zero Pendency Courts’ Project

DAKSH is organising an event titled ‘Piloting Justice: A Panel Discussion on Delhi High Court’s ‘Zero Pendency Courts’ Project’ on 29 July 2019 at Lecture Hall II, India International Centre Annexe, Lodi Estate, New Delhi.

The High Court of Delhi ran an experimental pilot project for two years to come up with timelines for disposal of different types of cases, and study the effects of an absence of backlog on judicial delay. 11 subordinate courts with no backlog were chosen in Delhi as ‘pilot courts’, and their functioning was compared with 11 courts with regular workload. DAKSH assisted the High Court with this pioneering project and drafting of the final report which was released by the Delhi High Court on 3 May 2019. The panel discussion will focus on the findings from this project, feasibility of carrying out pilot projects to study other facets of the judicial process, and what such an approach could mean to judicial reforms in the country.

For the discussion, we are pleased to have the following panelists with us:
– Justice (Retd.) Madan B. Lokur, Supreme Court of India;
– Justice R.K. Gauba, High Court of Delhi;
– Mr. Arvind Datar, Senior Advocate, High Court of Madras.

The discussion will be moderated by Mr. Harish Narasappa, Co-founder, DAKSH.

You can indicate your interest in the event on our Facebook event page. Details of the event are also available here

We hope you join us on 29 July for what promises to be an engaging discussion on the Delhi High Court report and judicial reforms.
